移动通信技术的发展让越来越多的新型通信技术被广泛使用(如4G),电信运营商不得不同时运营多个系统,为一个覆盖区域提供多系统信号服务(2G/3G/4G),从而导致设备的安装和传输困难。由上述原因衍生而出的,便是多系统分布式天线系统,它专门为解决远离基站且地上布有光纤的区域信号覆盖较弱的问题。这个系统由近端和远端两部分构成:近端通过直接耦合基站信号,把射频信号转化为光信号放大后,通过光纤传输给远端;远端再把接收的光信号转化回射频信号,提供到网络覆盖不足的区域。同时,移动信号也可通过放大并经由相反的方向传输到基站。
